Dear Intarwebs: Today wasn’t an interesting day.
I was home visiting the ‘rents, who deided they wanted to offload some furniture onto me. I’m more than happy to oblige: I have two empty bedrooms. We load them up this morning and I headed out – late, of ourse. 5 miles outside of town, I disover that it’s far more windy than our strapping job an deal with, so I turn around and head bak into town. A little rope, and I’m bak in business.
20 minutes outside my hometown, it begins to rain. Now, I saw the ominous-looking louds, but I thought “Meh, I’m lose enough.” FWOOSH! Damn.
You may also notie that I’m missing one partiular letter through out this entire post. Yes, it rhymes with “see.” Anyone know any good keyboards out there? I have a feeling it’s time to replae my Mirosoft omfort urve 2000.

You know what really grinds my gears? Cops. Cops who abuse their power and get away with it, even when they’re caught red-handed.
My friends IRL know I hold no love for the boys-in-blue. Some say it’s an authority thing, I say it started the day I was threatened to be arrested for simply driving down an alley (he said I had no business being there). True story.
Despite my distaste for coppers, they have a rough job and it’s easy to make mistakes. I also respect anyone who’s willing to put on a uniform and put themselves on the line for a greater good.
That good, however, is for society and not for themselves. So, when I see stories of crooked ass cops abusing their power, or abusing their perpetrators, it really gets my blood boiling. Take, for instance, cops in Idaho who sodomized a man with a taser. The worst part? They were “disciplined” and sent on their way.
This is border-line torture, and their department simply disciplines them? There are very few things I consider worthy of lawsuit, but getting a taser stuck up my bum by a legal authority is definitely one of them.

Ironicly, most cops I see are actually dressed in black uniforms. Or is it really dark blue? Hmm…
Ok, so some botnet begins attacking the US and South Korean government websites around July 4, right? Those who only narrowly passed kindergarden (ironically, these are typically lawmakers) immediately throw on their thinking caps and put to work their hard-earned skills of which block goes in what hole.
Their conclusion? North Korea is responsible for these attacks. Honestly, I can’t blame anyone for coming to this conclusion because of North Korea’s relationship to the world, especially their neighbor, South Korea. But get this:
“Whether it is a counterattack on cyber, whether it is, you know, more international sanctions . . . but it is time for America and South Korea, Japan and others to stand up to North Korea or the next time . . . they will go in and shut down a banking system or they will manipulate financial data or they will manipulate the electrical grid, either here or in South Korea.” – Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-Michigan)
Ok, pointing fingers is one thing but calling for counterattacks is serious business. You’d better make darn sure it’s the absolutely last measure before you start an all-out cyber offensive against a country – especially if that country is lead by a delusional dictator.
At the time of this writing, there’s evidence to suggest that the attacks – routing through some servers in the UK – actually originated in the United States. This is no surprise, the United States is a veritable cesspool of digital muck. Heck,my sister’s computer probably helped in the attack (srsly).
When will these lawmakers figure out that the solutions to these modern issues aren’t in offensive measures, but in giving our national IT infrastructure and laws a serious overhaul that more closely identifies with the times.
